Alexis Places Third!!

The news came into our house like a freight train and the celebration has begun! Alexis received third place in a South Carolina State art contest!

Several weeks ago, Alexis was asked to participate in a art contest called “Reflections.” The elementary school where she attends asked certain children to participate and Alexis was asked to participate in two categories: art and film.

As many of you know, Alexis is the artist in our family. Her abilities are definitely God-given, because Carrie and I cannot draw a stickman much less a picture. The art section consists of creating a picture based on the theme, “Beauty is…” The film production was based upon the same theme, but Alexis had never done a film so the fun was about to begin.

When the projects were submitted to the school, Alexis won first place in the school in the art and film categories! Since she was first place her projects would be sent to the state level. Several days later, the email came into school that Alexis had won third place in the state of South Carolina!!

Below are copies of her film and art project!! Congratulations Alexis!!!

The film production below was designed by Alexis with no adult assistance. I taught her the program and where to find the pictures and music. The next day she sat down and created the film in approximately 30 minutes. (The pictures used were taken from our personal collection over the years)

The picture below was created by Alexis without any adult assistance. The picture is of Alexis’ teacher, Ms. Hartwell.

Jousting — Gallagher Style

For Christmas in 2006, my father, sister and brothers came down for a few days. In the midst of the week, we went to Carrie’s parent’s home for dinner and got a taste of Jousting Gallagher style.

Emma is on Lora’s back and Alexis is on Aaron’s back.

Enjoy!

Emma after surgery - from the Gallagher Archives

In late August or early September of 2005, Emma had surgery to remove a cluster of blood vessels from her right cheek. She was two and a half at the time and they had to "put her under" to perform the procedure. As any parents would be, we were scared and spent time praying.

To say the least the surgery went well and Emma did great. When we got home, she was still doped up on the medication and we decided to video her to show her later in life. To be honest, the nervousness went away when we watched her try to walk across the room. The medicine lasted for a while and she was pretty wobbly.

Enjoy a look into the Gallagher family!

(We were still living in West Virginia at the time, so if you know what our living room looks like now, do not be confused.)

Thanks for watching!

Chris

Alexis at the Ocean (October 2004)

I was searching through the Gallagher Photo and video archives and found this video of Alexis during a quick trip to South Carolina. We were living in West Virginia at the time.

Who knew in October 2004 that we would live in South Carolina one year later? Amazing!

Listen to her laugh…she is my oldest baby!
